About Paringa

A small team with
a very specific
point of view.

Paringa is an infrastructure cost and governance specialist. We are not a systems integrator, a software vendor, or a traditional managed services provider. We sit between the technology and the commercial decision — a single governance layer across a set of specialist partners, run directly by the founders, with no account managers and no handoffs.

What we believe

The right conversation almost never happens between the person who understands the technology and the person who signs the cheque. I built Paringa to have that conversation first, every time — before anyone mentions a product name.

— Martin Roskelly, Co-Founder

Paringa exists because of a pattern I watched play out for years as a contractor — at one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, and at a large IT reseller and tech consultancy — where the wrong purchasing decision kept getting made. Not because the right solution didn't exist, but because the people who understood the technology and the people who controlled the budget were never in the same conversation.

We started the company to close that gap directly — originally under the name SLI, Software Licence Insight, because the goal was never inventory or compliance. It was giving decision-makers unbiased information so they could choose the right software, for the right purpose, at the right price.

Most organisations treat an audit or compliance event as a technical problem to solve quickly. It's actually a commercial negotiation to get right — and nobody runs that comparison, so nobody realises how much was left on the table. A Global Financial Institution facing a £1,000,000 Red Hat compliance exposure was our first real validation: resolved for over £500,000 in annual savings, zero OS change, zero disruption.

How we work

01
Pain-led, not product-led

We lead with the problem, not the solution. The instinct to pitch a product before the client has articulated their pain is how trust is lost before it's earned.

02
Outcomes, not projects

Every engagement has a defined commercial outcome. We measure success by the gap between what you were paying before and what you're paying after.

03
Deliberate and flat

We are a small team by design. Every engagement is handled by people who understand the problem — not account managers who escalate to someone who does.

04
Honest, even when it costs us

We'll tell you if you don't need us. We've walked away from conversations because the honest answer was "you're fine as you are" — that's not generosity, it's the only way a single-relationship model stays trustworthy.

05
European focus

UK, DACH, and the Middle East. Time zone coverage. Regulatory awareness. We understand the European data sovereignty pressure and the direction it is heading.

06
Ecosystems, not point solutions

Products and services don't make money on their own — ecosystems do. Every partner decision we make is about building the connected stack, not selling another standalone tool.

How we found our biggest engine

Almost by accident.

We were originally brought in to help smooth a Red Hat compliance audit for a Global Financial Institution, working alongside the audit consultancy already engaged on the account. It was going fine — until the audit turned adversarial, the tone from Red Hat shifting sharply in a way that felt disproportionate to the actual issue. We pushed back on behalf of the client, which cost us goodwill with more than one party in the room. Frustrated, we talked it through with a friend and advisor — and that conversation is how we stumbled onto SUSE's Multi-Linux Support programme, almost as a side comment, not the result of a deliberate market search. That's the moment it clicked: the most valuable thing we could do for a client wasn't the flashy, ambitious pitch. It was the boring, unsexy fix that saved them hundreds of thousands of pounds and got an aggressive vendor out of their business.
